DELTA are delighted to announce that one of our co-founders, Sue Lewis is to receive an MBE in the New Year’s Honours.
As I’m sure you know. Sue helped to found DELTA’s predecessor charity NAG in a bid to support deaf children and their families following the natural aural approach and she continues to be a stalwart of the charity.
DELTA Chair Andy Stubbs said “DELTA is immensely proud of Sue and feel that this award truly recognises the hard work that Sue has done for Deaf Education Through Listening and Talking (DELTA). Sue was one of the pioneers of the charity in its early days 35 years ago, working with a few other professionals in the deaf education system to passionately share the message that deaf children through the natural aural approach could lead a happy and vibrant life. This message which is still so valid today has been shared amongst 100’s of families through the volunteers associated with the charity, bringing such positiveness to everyone who has been involved. At the forefront of it though has always been Sue, with her knowledge and her joy through making a change to parents and children alike, DELTA will always be thankful for everything she has done. So with that we would like to offer our huge congratulations!”
